American Association Insider: Tuesday June 9th Takeaways

Folks, I have to admit, once the big game in Geneva got to be a bit one sided, I flipped over to the Stanley Cup Final, so I didn't catch a lot of the late action. The Cup will be one at some point soon and you'll have your halfway competent blogger back.

Lake Country 6 Kane County 3

With the roll the DockHounds are on, it's going to take a perfect game to end their winning streak. The Cougars left the bases loaded in the first and seventh with chances to jump to a lead and get back in the game. The DockHounds were able to get to Konor Ash even though he pitched better than the boxscore will say. Ryan Hernandez hit his 10th home run to take over the league lead. The DockHounds can tie Penascola's 15 game winning streak with a win on Wednesday.

Milwaukee 13 Gary SouthShore 1

So who had Griffin Doersching breaking the league record for most RBI's in a game with 10 by hitting three home runs at US Steelyard on their bingo card for tonight. Can we just give him Hitter of the Week honors now? Doersching knocks out Brian Buchanan, Christian Correa and Thomas Walraven out of the league record book. Doersching is up to seven home runs and is becoming the threat in the middle of the Milkmen order that is starting to put up some runs. Davis Welch was the recipient of the run support going seven innings to get the win. Lake Country and Kane County are the beasts of the East, but the Milkmen are starting to make some noise.

Sioux City 8 Sioux Falls 2

Two teams going in opposite directions met on Monday and nobody did a U-turn as the Explorers won their third game in the last four, while the Canaries dropped their fifth in a row. The Birds are getting nothing going right now. The offense has dried up and the eight runs given up tonight is the least given up in the five game losing streak. Braulio Vasquez after not being able to go to Winnipeg got back into the swing of things, homering and raising his average to .395. X's fans have wanted a replacement for John Nogowski for over a year, you got one in Vasquez. Where is Nogowski now that I look it up. He's not listed with any 2026 stats on Baseball Reference. So he's either out of baseball or whatever league he's in is not synched with Baseball Reference.

Chicago 8 Lincoln 7

After running into the Lake Country buzzsaw over the weekend the Dogs dusted themselves off and got back in the win column, surviving a late Lincoln rally. The Dogs still trying to tread water until Chance Sisco and Aaron Altherr can get back, still managed to put up eight runs. Giovanni DiGiacomo led the game off with a solo home run to set the tone in the win. DiGiacomo and Ethan Wilder have been a real good 1-2 combo at the top of the order. DiGiacomo has an OBP of .396 with Wilder chipping in with an OPB of .416.

Fargo-Moorhead 16 Kansas City 6

Dillon Thomas hit a grand slam and the RedHawks put up a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania zip code in the first five innings in winning at home on Tuesday night. The last four batters in the RedHawks order combined for 10 hits in 20 at bats scoring nine runs and driving in seven. Juan Fernandez returned to the RedHawks lineup as DH giving Jose Sermo the night off.
