Sorry I'm late in getting this going. After checking into my suburban Milwaukee hotel, I was mesmorized by the Stanley Cup Final game. I'm starting this after the first overtime.

Lincoln 11 Sioux Falls 10 (10 innings from Friday night's suspended game)

There will be games like this throughout every team's season regardless of how good of a team you are. It happened to the Canaries on Saturday afternoon. They were unable to hold a 7-5 lead, a one run lead heading into the last of the ninth and a two run lead in the last of the tenth. From what I can tell, the Canaries just ran out of pitching, using a newcomer Adam Diedrich to try to close the game. Give credit to the Saltdogs for having a never say die attitude and taking the wild game. Jake Hjelle had the big blow in the ninth inning, a solo home run to get the game into extras.

Lincoln 11 Sioux Falls 3

The momentum from the comeback win carried over to the night cap where the Saltdogs jumped to a 4-0 lead on a Tanner O'Tremba grand slam and dominated the seven inning tilt. Hjelle homered once again for the Saltdogs, a three run shot in the fourth inning. It got bad enough for the Canaries that infielder Trevor Achenbach recorded the last six outs on the mound. The Saltdogs doubled their home wins for the season with the doubleheader sweep (4-11) and now sit only two games out of a playoff spot, tied with reeling Fargo-Moorhead for fifth place.

Lake Country 20 Chicago 5

For the second time this season, the DockHounds recorded 20 plus runs in a game and have now won a dozen games in a row. After digging back to the 2024 American Association Media Guide, it was discovered that the league record for a winning streak is 15 by the long gone Pensacola Pelicans. The DockHounds put four balls out of Kamp Oconomowoc with Ray Zuberer III connecting for his first two of the season, Joshua Mears is now tied with teammate Ryan Hernandez and Jose Sermo connecting for his ninth of the season. Ripken Reyes joined in with his first of the year, part of a four RBI night. What is making this winning streak incredible is that the DockHounds are not just winning, but they are dominating. They go for #13 Sunday afternoon with yours truly in the house or would that be at the camp?

Kansas City 17 Gary SouthShore 3

All it took was Dakota Hudson doing Dakota Hudson things for the RailCats to finally taste defeat. It apparently loosened up the Monarchs offense as they racked up 17 runs. Hudson allowed just one run in six innings. Saul Garza was hitless in six of the last seven games but has gone 7-9 in the weekend set, hitting a home run tonight, his seventh. If the Monarchs get on a roll at the plate, the West Division will be officially put on notice.

Sioux City 7 Winnipeg 4

You may have a hard time getting the Explorers to leave Canada after their game tomorrow. The Goldeyes jumped out to a 4-0 lead but the X's Zac Vooletich and Alberto Osuna combined for six runs batted in with Osuna homering. Tahnaj Thomas recorded the last three outs to pick up his third save of the season. A week that began with gloom, despair and agony for the X's now see them in third place in the West Division.

Milwaukee 6 Fargo-Moorhead 0

In the game I was at tonight, the Milkmen take their second game in a row against the RedHawks. The RedHawks had lost their last four games, all by one run, but this one was not as Andy Blake homered and drove in four runs. Kyle Crigger pitched well for the RedHawks going seven innings, allowing three runs. He was outdueled by Christian Young who pitched six shutout innings to pick up the win for the Milkmen. It was a 3-0 game in the eighth inning, two RedHawks were on board with two outs and Jose Sermo was at the plate, but Sermo was retired and the Milkmen scored three in the bottom of the frame to put the game out of reach.
