American Association Insider: Friday May 29 Takeaways

Guys and Gals, I'm going to be brutally honest. This may be the worst takeways blog you're going to see. I'll have to go by iSore (not a typo), because I was on assignment tonight at Belzer Stadium in Lakeville, Minnesota tonight for a 10th Inning Stretch feature and didn't see any games from the Association tonight.
Fargo-Moorhead 14 Sioux Falls 9
I was touting Chance Sisco of Chicago as a front runner for winning the batting title. In his best Lee Corso, Juan Fernandez has given me a "not so fast, my friend". Fernandez went 4-5 leading a 16 hit RedHawks in a badly needed win after being swept at home. Fernandez is now raking at a .424 rate in 59 at bats
Gary SouthShore 4 Cleburne 3
The Chicagoland road trip have not been kind to the Texas nine as they dropped their fourth straight tonight in Gary. They had a 3-2 lead in the seventh before a Korry Howell single flipped the game upside down. Positive for the Railroaders is that in eight innings pitched they only allowed five hits and struck out 12.
Sioux City 4 Kansas City 3
The 2026 version of one of the hottest rivalries in American Association Baseball began tonight and didn't disappoint as the Explorers took the first game of a three game set at Legends Field. What Elliott Good did exactly that, homering in the fifth inning to put the Explorers ahead 3-1 and they would never trail. It's interesting to see Julio Rosario get a seven out save. Taj Thomas hasn't been good in the ninth inning, maybe Rosario is the way to go, especially if he can give you that six out save. 1.000 Joe Calfapietra bobbleheads were given away tonight (long overdue).
Lake Country 7 Milwaukee 3
The DockHounds started where they left off last night putting up a Prince William County, Virginia zip code in the first five innings 2-2-1-1-1. It was all Shane Anderson needed in his Lake Country debut as he threw six shutout innings to get the win. Julio Carreras and Ryan Hernandez played the 2026 version of Home Run Derby as both hit two home runs, would that have beat Jim Lemon in 1960 however?
Winnipeg 3 Chicago 2
3401 Dogs fans had to go home with a bad case of Tromp Derangement Syndrome as a Jiandido Tromp solo home run broke a 2-2 tie in the ninth inning and it held up as the Goldeyes defeated the Dogs. Welcome to the Luckow curse Chance Sisco (0-4 tonight)
Kane County 12 Lincoln 3
As far as Lincoln's execution went tonight, it was quick. The Cougars led 12-0 after seven innings before the Saltys got a few consolation runs. Matt Bottcher has proven to be a valuable find for the Cougars after having to watch them celebrate a second Miles Wolff Cup last season as a Sioux Falls Canary. Bottcher had four hits and is now batting .377.
