American Association Insider: August 8, 2025

Five new series and a continuation of a six game series on a Friday night. Just as a preface, my coverage may be spotty this weekend as I'll be in Sioux City tomorrow and Sioux Falls on Sunday afternoon. I'll give it my best as I also have to deliver the Sunday Insider.

Milwaukee 4 Kane County 2

If the Milkmen want to make a serious bid for a playoff spot, they will have to win many more games like they did tonight. The Milkmen ended a seven game losing streak and pulled within five games of the Cougars. Jhordany Mezquita bounced back from a rough start, pitching into the seventh allowing two runs on four hits. Mitchell Sanford had a two run double in the decisive fifth inning and Andy Blake homered for the victorious Milkmen. Todd Lott was the only Cougar with more than one hit going 2-4 and bumping his average up to .342

Lake Country 11 Chicago 3

Demetrius Sims went 3-5 with two runs batted in and Ray Zuberer III, Ryan Hernandez and Brian O'Keefe all homered as it was all DockHounds in the battle between the top two teams in the East. O'Keefe has now homered in his last three games going 7-11 at the plate. Jacob Maiben led the Dogs at the plate with a three hit night going 3-4

Gary SouthShore 4 Cleburne 1

The RailCats take their their game in a row versus the home standing Railroaders. All of their offense was in the first inning and Deyni Olivero took it from there winning his third start in a row. Olivero allowed one run in his 6.1 innings of work and the RailCat pen took it from there, allowing nothing the rest of the way. Jacob Coats who I have mentioned as a trade target, picked up his eighth save and four in his last five outings, not allowing a run. Andres Sosa had a three hit night for the Railroaders.

Kansas City 4 Sioux Falls 2 (10 innings)

Micah Pries scored the tie breaking run on a sacrifice fly and Jorge Bonifacio homered for an insurance run as the Monarchs defeated the Canaries 4-2. Bonifacio and John Nogowski each had three hits as part of eight for the night for the Monarchs. Joe Vos homered for the Canaries and in what could be a key development for the stretch run, Ryan Zimmerman went seven innings allowing just a pair of runs. Hunter McMahon had no trouble with the top of the Canaries order to pick up his ninth save and third in the last five days.

Lincoln 9 Winnipeg 6

The Saltdogs bounced off the mat and delivered five runs in their final two innings at bat to defeat the Goldeyes at Blue Cross Park. Danny Bautista Jr. homered and Brody Fahr along with Drew DeVine each had three hits for the Saltdogs. Ramon Bramasco drove in three runs for the Goldeyes.

Fargo-Moorhead 7 Sioux City 6

In the most anticipated matchup of the night, the RedHawks continue to stay hot and pull within five games of the Explorers winning a surprisingly sloppy game at Lewis and Clark Park. The RedHawks had three errors and Explorers pitching walked seven batters, while allowing two runs combined in the eighth and ninth innings with the only hit a misplayed bunt. Aidan Byrne had three hits for the RedHawks with three runs batted in. Abdiel Layer had a three run home run that had put the Explorers ahead at that time.
