American Association Insider: August 6, 2025

With the doubleheader in Fargo tonight it was a lucky seven game night in the American Association on Wednesday.

Fargo-Moorhead 8 Lincoln 7 (Game 1)

The RedHawks who trailed by three runs in the fifth after Lincoln scored five, bounced back to score a pair of runs in the seventh to win game one of the doubleheader. Back to back doubles by Alec Olund and Nicholas Northcut got the job done. Drew DeVine upon getting the ball back from Kyle Battle in center field after the winning run scored, threw the ball over the outfield wall, the ball is expected to land in Winnipeg around 10:30. DeVine had a three hit game, driving in a run. Juan Fernandez went 3-3 driving in two RedHawk runs.

Fargo-Moorhead 3 Lincoln 2 (Game 2)

A sixth inning solo home run by the RedHawks Michael Hallquist broke a 2-2 deadlock. With the sweep, the RedHawks have vaulted into a tie for second place with the Kansas City Monarchs. Meanwhile Lincoln can officially blame me for picking them to finish in fourth place in a Wild Card spot when Dan Vaughan pressed me for an answer in June. Speaking of which, you can catch me on with Vaughan for more pearls of wisdom Thursday night on the Explorers Pregame Show on KSCJ and AATV.

Lake Country 8 Kane County 5

It took till the sixth inning for the DockHounds to get to Konnor Ash as they scored three in the frame to take a 5-4 lead and they made it stand in winning their second in a row against the Cougars. As one should do at Kamp Oconomowoc, the DockHounds did it with the long ball with five home runs. Aaron Hill with a pair along with Brian O'Keefe, Ryan Hernandez and Demitrius Sims. Gabriel Aguilera picked up his second win in as many starts going seven innings allowing four runs, three earned. Alex McGarry and Marcus Chiu both homered for the Cougars.

Chicago 10 Kansas City 8

It was a slugfest between the Dogs and Monarchs as both teams combined for 28 hits. T.J. Hopkins had a three run home run as part of a three hit night. Chance Sisco also homered, a two run shot in the second inning. Robbie Glendinning hit his 15th home run while Yoyner Fajardo hit his first for the Monarchs.

Winnipeg 4 Sioux Falls 0

In a game of two teams headed in opposite direction, the Goldeyes winners of five of their last six shutout the Canaries, losers of seven of their last nine. Landen Bourassa pitching for the first time since June 28 threw three shutout innings and three relievers combined on the four hit shutout. Jacob Robson homered and drove in three of the Goldeyes four runs.

Sioux City 9 Milwaukee 0

Austin Drury gave the Explorers and their bullpen just what they needed, a complete game shutout, allowing six hits, picking up his sixth. All in the while throwing to a new catcher Michael Quinones. Quinones warmed himself up to his new mates going 2-2 and scoring three runs. D'Shawn Knowles may be the hottest hitter in the league going 4-4 with four runs batted in.

Gary SouthShore 7 Cleburne 5

A four run seventh inning highlighted by a Joe Suozzi two run home run was the difference as the RaiCats came back to defeat the Railroaders at La Moderna Field. Elvis Peralta had a perfect 5-5 night with two doubles, two runs scored and two runs batted in. Kyle Martin hit his 22nd home run for the Railroaders. Jacob Coats picked up his sixth save with a scoreless ninth. Look out for Coats come trade deadline time. Remember the Tanner Keist trade in 2019, this could fetch a similar haul.
