American Association Insider: August 29, 2025

It has been one of the most unpredictable seasons in American Association history, and tonight just added additional proof to that statement. I don't know if I will have time to do the recaps on Saturday or Sunday as I will be on vacation, but you never know.

Milwaukee 3 Lake Country 2 (8 innings)

If one were to put some coin on this doubleheader tonight, you'd have to be crazy not to put your money on the DockHounds. The East Division leaders were coming off a series sweep at home against Chicago. The Milkmen swept a series in Kansas City, and had a long drive home. But none of that ended up mattering as a Kaden Hollow single scored Chase Estep to win Game one of the doubleheader for the Milkmen and put them a game ahead of Cleburne for the final playoff spot in the East. Juan Diaz threw seven innings of two run ball to keep the Milkmen in the game.

Cleburne 9 Kansas City 4

Knowing they were now a full game out of a playoff spot, the Railroaders got to work early against the Monarchs, scoring five runs in the first inning and cruising to a win at Legends Field. Kyle Martin homered twice, breaking a Railroaders record for home runs in a season with 29. Nick Shumpert and Jose Gonzalez also homered for the Roaders. Martin drove in four runs and Gonzalez knocked in three all on his three run home run in the first inning. Ross Adolph homered in the ninth for the Monarchs. Derek Craft picked up his seventh win going six innings allowing three runs.

Milwaukee 7 Lake Country 6 (9 innings)

Mitchell Sanford had a three hit game for the Milkmen, his third hit a walk off single as the Milkmen swept the doubleheader and finished the night with their one game lead for the final playoff spot. Meanwhile the champagne still sits on ice for the DockHounds as they await clinching the East Division. Milkmen Chase Estep had the only home run of the game.

Chicago 3 Kane County 2

Six Dogs pitchers combined to allow only two hits as they kept their divisional winning hopes alive in a nail-biting win at Northwestern Medicine Field. A fifth inning Dusty Stroup RBI single was the difference as his hit made it a 3-1 game.

Lincoln 4 Gary SouthShore 1

In a battle of two teams playing out the season, it was the visiting Saltdogs emerging victorious. Jhon Vargas picked up the win throwing seven innings allowing no runs on two hits. Lincoln knocked out 13 hits with Brody Fahr being the only regular that didn't pick up a hit.

Winnipeg 7 Sioux City 2

Neither team had anything to play for other than the Explorers tuning up for their first round series versus Sioux Falls next week. Austin Drury only allowed one hit in five innings for the Explorers, but allowed four runs as he walked six Goldeyes. Jacob Robson homered for the Goldeyes a three run shot in the fifth inning. Six Goldeyes hurlers combined to allow two runs on six hits striking out seven Explorers.

Fargo-Moorhead 5 Sioux Falls 2

Both teams with nothing more to play for than possibly catching Kansas City for second place and possible home field in the second round battled with the RedHawks winning the series opener. Jose Sermo hit his sixth home run in his last eight games and his 14th in 52 games with the RedHawks, Sermo finished the night with four hits. Jabari Henry went deep for the Canaries and had three hits for the Canaries.
