American Association Insider: August 27, 2025

This will not be a meaty recap session as I didn't see any action until 9:30. I have a half season Minnesota Wild ticket package. My partner and I got together tonight to draft our games for the season.

Gary SouthShore 14 Kane County 2

The RailCats cruised in this one, leading 7-2 before putting up seven more runs in the eighth. Joe Suozzi hit a three run home run and Cooper Weiss homered for the RailCats. Suozzi had four runs driven in while Weiss and Marco Gonzalez both drove in three runs apiece. Spencer Adams went seven innings allowing a pair of runs to pick up his sixth win. Blake Rutherford homered for the Cougars.

Lake Country 6 Chicago 5 (10 innings)

A Freddie Rojas Jr. two run home run capped a comeback from a 5-1 deficit to tie the game. In the 10th the DockHounds won without putting a ball in play as a ball and a wild pitch plated the winning run. With the win, the DockHounds are now two games ahead of the Dogs in the East Division. Luke Roskam homered for the DockHounds while Jailyn Williams, Jacob Teter and Dusty Stroup went deep for the Dogs.

Milwaukee 7  Kansas City 2

The Milkmen are understanding the assignment. Keep on winning and put the heat on Cleburne. They pulled away late to win their second in a row at Legends Field. Baron Radcliff, Chase Estep and Delvin Perez all homered with the Perez home run a three run shot. Matt Walker picked up the win throwing six shutout innings for his seventh win in ten decisions.

Winnipeg 3 Fargo-Moorhead 1

The Goldeyes once again play spoiler as they held their I-29 rivals to a single run winning at  Newman Outdoor Field. Ben Kowalski picked up the win allowing a run in six innings. Rob Emery led the way at the plate driving in two runs for the Goldeyes.

Lincoln 1 Cleburne 0

The Railroaders saw their lead over the Milkmen shrink to a half game as they were shutout by the Saltdogs at Haymarket Park. The only run of the game was scored on a Gustavo Sosa single in the fifth inning. Greg Loukinen picked up the win throwing seven shutout innings picking up his seventh win. It was the first nine inning shutout victory for the Saltdogs since June 5th when they shutout Milwaukee 9-0.

Sioux City 9 Sioux Falls 4

The Explorers led 5-4 late but pulled away in a four run eighth inning highlighted by an Abdiel Layer two run home run. Layer continued his hot hitting as of late going 2-4 with four runs batted in for the night. With the win and the loss by Kansas City, the Explorers are the West Division Champions and have also clinched the best overall record in the American Association. Very important if they were to make it to the Miles Wolff Cup Finals.
