Five series began tonight with another playing the middle game. The field is set in the West Division with seeding and overall top record still up for grabs. Sioux Falls clinched tonight with a win in Cleburne.

Chicago 7 Lake Country 6 (10 innings)

If the Dogs want to catch the DockHounds, they have to focus on sweeping them at Impact Field. They did so on Tuesday, even if it took a wild finish to do it. Starting in the ninth, down by a run, Dusty Stroup homered to tie the game for the Dogs. In the 10th Demetrius Sims had a bases loaded double to give the DockHounds a three run lead. But the Dogs sent the fans home happy. A three run home run from Brantley Bell tied the game at six and Stroup came through again three batters later with a walk off single.

Milwaukee 2 Kane County 1 (10 innings)

Don't look now but the Milkmen are on a heater. Four wins in a row, two more and they would only be 2.5 games behind the Cougars with plenty of time to catch them. Joe Gray's single, the second hit of the night for the Cougars in the 10th inning produced a walk off winner. Milkmen pitching held the Cougars to four hits, so if my McKinley Elementary School math is right, it was six combined hits tonight at Franklin Field.

Kansas City 11 Winnipeg 0

For the second straight night, the Goldeyes didn't have an answer for Monarchs pitching. The Monarchs bats made it easy putting up 11 runs for an easy victory. Jorge Bonifacio (solo), John Nogowski (two run), and Robbie Glendinning (3 run) all homered for the Monarchs. Isiah Gilliam doubled in three at bats in his return from the Mexican League for the Monarchs. Ashton Goudeau pitched six shutout innings for his fourth win.

Sioux City 7 Lincoln 3

The Explorers overcame an early 3-1 deficit to defeat the Saltdogs at Lewis and Clark Park. Kyle Marman went eight innings throwing 135 pitches and striking out nine. The ninth strikeout was with the bases loaded with two outs and the bases loaded in a one run game, but more importantly set the single season Explorers strikeout record with that rally ending K. Torin Montgomery drove in three runs to pace the Explorers.

Sioux Falls 9 Cleburne 3

Though the players may have known it was a forgone conclusion with the Goldeyes losing badly to the Monarchs, the Canaries clinched a playoff spot in style defeating the Railroaders at La Moderna Field. Six runs in the first two innings including a home run by Matt Bottcher who drove in three runs for the night. Bottcher could be an under the radar pick up for the Canaries. The six runs were enough for Thomas Dorminy to pick up his 10th win going six innings allowing three runs.

Fargo-Moorhead 8 Gary SouthShore 0

After a blip on the radar in a loss to Cleburne on Sunday, the RedHawks got right back on track in shutting out the RailCats at Newman Outdoor Field. Kyle Crigger threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball striking out nine to get his seventh win. Jose Sermo and Eric Filia had three hits apiece for the RedHawks and Michael Hallquist continues his late season bid for Rookie of the Year with three more runs batted in.
