American Association Insider: August 15, 2025
I know last night I said there'd be no recaps tonight, but plans change. We were going to see The Offspring in Minneapolis tonight. We both had bad vibes about going. An 8pm start with two opening acts was going to mean a late night. And in the eyes of my wife and I, a late night in Downtown Minneapolis was not going to be a good proposition. The parking ramps for Target Center are tough to get out of. The skyway due to crime tends to close early, and I feared not being able to take the skyway back to a downtown parking ramp and not knowing how to get to it from street level. Plus the ever present carjackings, car theft, and the fact we have a brand new vehicle. It's a shame how much Minneapolis has declined since I went to Twins games and never worried about my safety. We sold the tickets and stayed home to the delight of our four dogs.
Kane County 2 Kansas City 1
These two clubs in a scheduling oddity only meet twice in Geneva. Thus far it has not been kind to the Monarchs as the Cougars have won four of five games between the teams. Ross Adolph homered to get the Monarchs on the board. It stayed 1-0 until the Cougars scored twice in the seventh on a Claudio Finol double and a Josh Allen sacrifice fly that proved to be the difference. The Adolph home run was the only blemish for Jack Fox who went six innings allowing five hits. Three Cougars relievers shut the door from there, with Jake Gozzo picking up his 14th save.
Gary SouthShore 5 Chicago 4
The RailCats jumped out to a 5-0 lead including a home run from Elvis Peralta and held on for a road win at Impact Field. T.J. Hopkins had a perfect 4-4 night at the plate for the Dogs. Spencer Adams went seven innings allowing two runs to pick up his fifth win.
Milwaukee 9 Lake Country 4
The Milkmen after being shut out two games in a row by Kansas City, put that demon to rest early with a three run first inning and never trailed. Erik Ostberg's replacement Kaden Hollow went 2-4 with a home run and three runs driven in. Four Milkmen relievers threw 3.2 scoreless innings to preserve the win for Matt Walker who picked up his fifth win. Ray Zuberer III and Ryan Hernandez both homered for the DockHounds.
Winnipeg 8 Sioux City 3
Right now the only thing that may hold back the Goldeyes is time. But in the process they could be a spoiler in the West Division. The Goldeyes jumped to a 5-0 lead in the fourth and never looked back in winning at Lewis and Clark Park. Jacob Robson had three hits including a home run and Matthew Warkentin added a solo bomb. Josh Day homered for the Explorers. Ben Kowalski picked up where he left off on May 20th getting a win in his return to the Goldeyes.
Sioux Falls 10 Lincoln 1
There would be no crazy comebacks this time as the Canaries left no doubt at Haymarket Park. Peter Zimmerman homered, Calvin Estrada homered and drove in three runs, and Matt Ruiz drove in three runs to lead the Canaries. Cole LaLonde picked up his first victory as a starting pitcher going six innings allowing one run on six hits.
Fargo-Moorhead 6 Cleburne 5
The Railroaders had the RedHawks on the ropes scoring four runs in the top of the eighth, but the RedHawks fought back with three to retake the lead and hold on to win at Newman Outdoor Field. Aaron Altherr drove in three runs as part of a 2-4 night for the Railroaders. Shane Barringer went seven innings for the RedHawks allowing a run on three hits but got the no decision as the bullpen couldn't hold the lead for him.
