American Association Insider: August 12, 2025
After a well earned league wide day off for the American Association and yours truly, it was back to action on Tuesday night. One game did not get going as Gary was clobbered with rain and could not get their game versus Chicago going. They'll try to play two tomorrow.
Kane County 7 Lake Country 6 (7 innings)
After the teams completed a suspended game from July 10, won by the Cougars 10-2 with Konnor Ash finishing a two hitter he had started a month ago, the Cougars got the sweep on a Claudio Finol walk off two run single. The Cougars had jumped out to an early 3-0 before the DockHounds had a five run fifth that put them up 6-3. But after cutting the lead to 6-4 in the sixth, the stage was set for Finol's dramatics. Finol went 3-4 with five runs batted in. Ryan Hernandez had a home run for the DockHounds.
Winnipeg 2 Cleburne 0
Landen Bourassa threw four shutout innings and four relievers combined to throw five innings of one hit shutout ball as the Goldeyes beat the Railroaders and their Jekyll & Hyde offense. Keyshawn Lynch had three hits including two doubles while Max Murphy and Kevin Garcia had the runs batted in for the Goldeyes.
Sioux Falls 7 Lincoln 2
Behind seven innings of one run ball by Tanner Brown, the Canaries took game one of the six game set at Haymarket Park. Former Chicago Dog Matt Bottcher made his debut with the Canaries batting lead off and going 2-5 with a run scored and a run batted in. The Canaries led early scoring three runs in the fourth then pulling away with four more runs in the ninth inning.
Kansas City 8 Milwaukee 3
The Milkmen began life after Erik Ostberg and the result was predictable as the Monarchs rode home runs from Micah Pries (two run), Jorge Bonifacio (three run) and a solo shot by John Nogowski to victory. It was the fourth in five games for Pries, and second in a row for Nogowski. Josh Hendrickson was the recipient of the run support allowing one run in six innings for his eighth win of the season.
Sioux City 7 Fargo-Moorhead 6 (10 innings)
After the RedHawks took two of three in Iowa over the weekend, the scene shifted to Newman Outdoor Field. It didn't disappoint as the two clubs played their second extra inning game in their last three. The Explorers jumped to a 6-1 lead before the RedHawks scored five in the fifth to tie the game. From there the bullpens took over. It ended up being a battle of the Byrne as Kurtis Byrne drove in a run in the 10th to give the Explorers the lead and Austin Byrne struck out with two runners on to end the game. Maikol Escotto drove in two runs without a hit in his Explorers debut while Byrne and Torin Montgomery each drove in two runs. Lamar Sparks drove in a pair for the RedHawks. The Explorers broke the American Association record for most stolen bases in a season when they got their 214th stolen base. Erik Ostberg went 0-4 with three strikeout in the all star's debut with the RedHawks.
