American Association Insider: August 10, 2025
It was an odd day on Sunday. There was only one 1 pm game due to delays in Oconomowoc and Franklin. My prayers and best wishes to any fans out there that was affected by the flooding in the Milwaukee area.
Winnipeg 7 Lincoln 2
In the one early game that got started on time, behind 7.2 innings of one unearned run pitching from Mitchell Lambson, the Goldeyes took the series from Lincoln. Lambson only allowed four hits and struck out ten Saltdogs. Max Murphy and Tripp Clark both collected three hits. Matthew Warkentin and Keyshawn Lynch both homered in the winning effort.
Kane County 9 Milwaukee 7
The Cougars scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to break a 7-7 tie and avoid being swept at Franklin Field by the Milkmen. Armand Upshaw went 3-5 and Josh Allen drove in three runs to help lead the Cougars to victory. Out of the 12 combined pitchers from both clubs, Zach Veen threw the most innings and was the most succesful throwing three shutout innings out of the Cougars bullpen. With the win the Cougars now lead the Milkmen by five games for the final spot in the East Division with twenty games left.
Fargo-Moorhead 4 Sioux City 2
In a game that left Explorers manager Steve Montgomery frustrated on his post game talk with Dan Vaughan, the X's could only muster up single runs in the first and ninth innings as the RedHawks took the rubber game of the three game set at Lewis and Clark Park. Michael Hallquist continued his hot stretch of hitting with a two run home run in the first inning. Angelo Cabral got through 5.2 innings, with the only damage a Henry George solo home run in the first inning to pick up his second win.
Kansas City 10 Sioux Falls 4
In the game I was at today, Micah Pries set the tone for the Monarchs right away as he drilled the first pitch of the game for a home run. It was one of five home runs on the day for the Monarchs. Pries added another one, a three run shot in the sixth after Sioux Falls had pulled within one on a Peter Zimmerman two run home run in the fifth. Alvaro Gonzalez, Yoyner Fajardo and John Nogowski, a three run shot in the ninth, also homered for the Monarchs. Julian Garcia went on another strikeout spree fanning 14 in eight innings to get his eighth win. Tyler Alexander has the single season strikeout record with 167 in 2017. Garcia trails by 26 with three, possibly four starts left in the season.
Chicago 16 Lake Country 5
It was worth the four hour wait for the Dogs as they pounded the DockHounds to salvage a game in the series at Kamp Oconomowoc. Brantley Bell homered twice and drove in three runs as part of a five hit day. T.J. Hopkins homered and drove in four. Howard Rodriguez went 3-4 with a home run and a three run double with five runs driven in. The second inning was the only inning in which Chicago did not score a run.
Cleburne 11 Gary SouthShore 5
It was a slugfest for the first two innings as the Railroaders led 8-5 after three innings. The game would settle down the rest of the way with the only runs the rest of the way were three Roaders insurance runs in the eighth. Cooper Weiss, Aaron Altherr and Kyle Martin all homered for the Railroaders. Meanwhile three Railroaders relievers combined for five shutout innings allowing only two hits.
