American Association Insider: August 1, 2025
Wow, it's August already. I have to say these games of late in the American Association have been must watch TV. I have amateur baseball playoff games all around me tonight and I didn't even consider going, Too much going on in the Association. So there I was with the three amigos, TV, Chromebook, and phone following three games at a time. That being said, there will either be a real late or no recap tomorrow, as I visit one of my favorite parks, Carson Park in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Kane County 2 Fargo-Moorhead 1
Two of the hottest teams in the league since the All Star Break met up with something having to give at Northwestern Medicine Field. It ended up being the Konnor Ash show. Ash took a no hitter into the seventh until an American Association blogger started blabbing to colleagues about a potential no hitter. My bad, my bad. Ash went eight innings allowing a run on three hits, striking out nine to get his seventh win. Jake Dykhoff threw well for the Hawks allowing two runs in six innings. Both teams combined for only 11 hits.
Winnipeg 9 Milwaukee 0
Did the Milkmen use up all their runs on the road? The Milkmen were shutout by the Goldeyes' Johnny Allstaff, as six Goldeyes pitchers combined on a four hitter. Roby Enriquez collected three hits and drove in two runs. Matthew Warkentin drove in three runs and the Goldeyes combined for 13 hits in the win at Franklin Field.
Sioux Falls 2 Kansas City 1
A Matt Ruiz generously ruled triple as Yoyner Fajardo dropped a fly ball to deep center field, scored Jordan Barth to score the winning run in the top of the ninth inning. Both starters were great with Monarch starter Blake Goldsberry allowing only a Jabari Henry home run and one other hit in seven innings. Tanner Brown matched him well allowing one run in six innings, and three Canaries relievers allowed only two hits in three innings.
Lake Country 2 Gary SouthShore 1
You have to feel for Railcats starting pitcher Andres Diaz. Diaz went the distance allowing two runs, one earned on eight hits just to end up picking up his eighth loss of the season. Recent pickup Gabriel Aguilera pitched five innings, allowing just one hit to pick up the win for the DockHounds. Ray Zuberer III homered to lead of the game, a part of a two run first inning that proved to be the difference.
Cleburne 9 Chicago 6
Kyle Martin led the way with a home run and four runs batted in, a part of a 3-4 night and Shed Long along with Dustin Peterson also homered for the Railroaders as they bounced back from being swept by Lake Country. Jacob Teter homered in the ninth inning for the Dogs, as they dropped their fourth game in a row at Impact Field this week.
Sioux City 7 Lincoln 2
D'Shawn Knowles had himself a night homering twice and driving in five of the seven Sioux City runs as the Explorers won at Haymarket Park. Kyle Marman was very good for the Explorers throwing seven innings allowing two runs and striking out 10 Saltdogs to pick up his sixth win and fourth decision in a row. Abdiel Layer also homered for the Explorers. Mikey Kane in his second game with the Saltdogs had a 3-4 night.
