American Associaiton Baseball Insider: August 22, 2025

Before we get to the recaps for Friday night, I have some exciting news to share. Piggybacking on recent news that it doesn't matter how iconic of a logo you may have, it's 2025 and things change. Not that I had a logo before but after hearing how much of a smashing success Cracker Barrel has had since their new woke logo appeared. So much success you can now get real good deals on Cracker Barrel stock to celebrate. I present to you the first ever logo for the American Association Insider.

Chicago 8 Fargo-Moorhead 4

The RedHawks utilized recently returned closer Alex DuBord as an opener tonight at Impact Field. It didn't go as well as hoped other than DuBord getting his work in. The Dogs jumped on DuBord for three runs in his inning worked on a three run home run by T.J. Hopkins. It sure seems like I've typed Hopkins name a lot lately. Henry Kusiak led the Dogs with three hits. Jose Sermo and Dillon Thomas homered for the RedHawks with Sermo's home run tying the game at three in the third inning. The Dogs struck for three in the fourth and never looked back. Coupled by a DockHounds loss, the Dogs are only two games back now, and have clinched a playoff spot.

Kane County 3 Lake Country 1

A great pitching matchup between the Cougars Konnor Ash and the DockHounds Lucas Hansel did not disappoint. The home town DockHounds led 1-0 after one, but it was all they would get off of Ash. The Cougars scored three in the fourth on a two run double and later a run scored by Marcus Chiu. Ash got his tenth win with the one run on two hit effort with nine strikeouts in seven innings. Hansel was great outside the fourth going seven also allowing the three runs on two hits.

Milwaukee 8 Gary SouthShore 2

The Milkmen keep pace trying to catch the Railroaders as they scored four runs in the fifth and ninth innings. Andrew Blake homered for the Milkmen and Elvis Peralta had three hits for the RailCats.

Sioux City 7 Sioux Falls 4

The Explorers homered three times and stole four more bases to add to their league record to defeat the Canaries at the Birdcage. D'Shawn Knowles. Torin Montgomery and Abdiel Layer all went deep for the X's. Montgomery had a three hit game. Calvin Estrada had a perfect night at the plate for the Canaries going 4-4 with two doubles and three runs driven in. Felix Cepeda added to his league lead in saves with his 24th pitching a scoreless ninth.

Cleburne 2 Kansas City 1 (10 innings)

Of course when you get two offensive teams at La Moderna Field it'd be a 2-1 game. Julian Garcia was great once again for the Monarch with his only blemish a Chris Kwitzer home run in the third. Garcia struck out 14 in the game, allowing a run on four hits. Garcia is at 163 strikeouts for the season pulling within four strikeouts of the league record of 167. Garcia will likely pitch Wednesday or Thursday and should break the record then. Possibly his last start of the season. Dakota Chalmers matched up well for Cleburne allowing a run on three hits in eight innings. Kwitzer emerged as the hero for the Railroaders hitting the sacrifice fly to walk it off in the 10th.

Lincoln 10 Winnipeg 5

In the only game without divisional race impacts, the Saltdogs scored in bunches scoring three in the second and seven in the fifth to get the win at Blue Cross Park. Raul Espinosa homered twice in drove in four for the Saltdogs while Kyle Battle also homered. Max Murphy and Jacob Robson had three hits and Matthew Warkentin homered for the Goldeyes.
