American Association Insider: July 8, 2025 plus Power Rankings.
Six games in league action on Tuesday night featuring the top two teams in the West battling it out, the best versus the best under the lights at Legends Field.
Sioux City 4 Kansas City 2
Zach Vooletich drove in a run with a double in the first and added a huge insurance run with a home run in the ninth to help lead the Explorers to a big win at Legends Field. Jake Wetherbee was brilliant going six innings allowing just one run on three hits while striking out six to pick up his league leading seventh win.
Lake Country 10 Kane County 4 (7 innings)
It was all DockHounds as they took the opener of the series at Northwestern Medicine Field. Imanol Vargas keeps doing Imanol Vargas things, hitting his fifth home run, a two run shot and driving in three runs. In the I'm getting old department. Reese Ligtenberg made his pro debut on the mound for Kane County. Ligtenberg is the son of former major leaguer Kerry Ligtenberg who I remember watching pitch Independent Baseball right out of college in 1994. Kerry Ligtenberg later pitched for the St. Paul Saints and eventually became George Tsamis's long time pitching coach with the Saints.
Chicago Dogs 9 Milwaukee 5
The Dogs scored in six of their eight innings hitting and defeated the Milkmen on Tuesday night at Impact Field. Howard Rodriguez homered twice and drove in four runs for the Dogs. Chance Sisco and Dusty Stroup also homered for the Dogs. Andy Blake had a two run home run for the Milkmen.
Fargo-Moorhead 10 Gary SouthShore 3
The difference in this one was an eight run fifth inning for the RedHawks, as they took the first of a three game series at U.S. Steel Yard. Jose Sermo doubled three times and drove in four runs to lead the RedHawks attack. Tyler Jandron picked up his fourth win going seven innings allowing three runs, two earned.
Sioux Falls 12 Winnipeg 5
It didn't look good early for the Canaries as the Goldeyes led 5-2 after four innings, but it was all Canaries after that and the Birds cruised to victory. Jabari Henry came back to the lineup in a big way going 4-5 with a home run and four runs batted in. Cal Estrada and Mike Hart also went deep for the Canaries. Travis Dorminy joined Jake Wetherbee with seven wins to lead the lead going five innings allowing three earned runs. Matthew Warkentin continues to swing a hot bat for the Goldeyes hitting his 11th home run.
Lincoln 15 Cleburne 6
The Saltdogs bounced back from being swept in Kansas City, putting up 15 runs in beating Cleburne at La Moderna Field. Neyfy Castillo hit his eighth home run (watch out for Castillo in the second half), Spencer Henson, Yusniel Diaz and Max Hewitt also homered for the victorious Saltdogs. Andres Sosa went 3-4 driving in three to lead the Railroaders.
