American Association Insider: July 27, 2025
On a hot Sunday afternoon in the American Association, we would see rain affect several games, resulting in a cancellation of one.
Chicago vs. Winnipeg Cancelled due to rain
This could look large if either team is in a neck to neck race for a playoff spot. The Dogs and Goldeyes do not meet the rest of the season, so it'll be a 99 game schedule for both squads.
Kansas City 9 Kane County 7
Behind a tie breaking four run ninth inning, the Monarchs were able to avoid a sweep in Kane County. Micah Pries drove in two runs and Robbie Glendinning connected for a two run home run in the top of the ninth. The Glendinning home run was the difference as Marcus Chiu had a two run home run in the last of the ninth to cut the lead to two. Chiu went 3-4 with three runs driven in while Pries and Glendinning each drove in three runs, Glendinning had two home runs for the day.
Fargo-Moorhead 5 Lincoln 4
It was Newman Outdoor Field magic coming through again as the RedHawks rallied from a two run deficit to walk off the Saltdogs on a Jose Sermo single. Sermo's walk off single followed a Juan Fernandez single that just dropped in right center field to tie the game at four. Brendan Dadson had a home run for the RedHawks while Max Hewitt connected for the Saltdogs.
Sioux City 5 Gary SouthShore 1
They say in life that the best things are worth waiting for. This was the case for the Explorers at U.S. Steelyard. After a two run Josh Day single gave the Explorers the lead for good in the top of the sixth inning, the teams had to sit through a three hour plus rain delay before play resumed. Day knocked in two more runs after the delay ended as the X's pulled away for the win.
Sioux Falls 4 Lake Country 2
The Canaries broke a scoreless deadlock in the fifth with an RBI single by Drey Dirksen and a two run RBI by Matt Ruiz two batters later. Thomas Dorminy was dominant in his eight innings of shutout ball allowing only four hits. Dorminy is riding a 16.1 inning scoreless streak and won his ninth game. Dorminy is four wins behing the all time Canaries single season win record held by Ben Moore and Ryan Ford with 13. Dorminy likely has six starts left in the 2025 season. A Ryan Hernandez two run home run in the ninth pulled the DockHounds within two runs but they could add no more. The Canaries picked up their first four game sweep since 2019 when they swept four games from the Texas AirHogs.
Milwaukee 10 Cleburne 2
Revenge is a dish best served cold, and that is about the only thing you can serve cold in Texas this time of year. The Milkmen after being ran out of Franklin Field by the Railroaders last weekend, took three of four in Cleburne, the last two in dominating fashion. Erik Ostberg was once again incredible with a 5-6 game driving in three runs. Jhordany Mezquita picked up his sixth win of the season allowing two earned runs in six innings of work. Aaron Altherr continued his tear hitting his 17th home run for the Railroaders to put himself within two of teammate Kyle Martin at the top of the home run leaderboard.
