American Association Insider: July 26, 2025
It was the last Saturday night of American Association action for July. The season is flying by. There were two extra innings and a walkoff grand slam among the six games league wide.
Sioux City 2 Gary SouthShore 1 (10 innings)
A Jairus Richards home run in the first inning was all the offense the RailCats could muster against Kyle Marman in eight innings of work. Likewise a third inning Zach Vooletich single was the only mark against Andres Diaz in his eight innings. The Explorers managed to score Nolan Lane (better name for ghost runner) from second in the 10th inning and Felix Cepeda shut down the RailCats in the bottom half to preserve the win.
Sioux Falls 6 Lake Country 2
The Canaries scored six runs in their last two innings at the plate to overtake the DockHounds and win their third in a row versus the East Division leading DockHounds. It was the long ball that did the job for the Canaries. Mike Hart led off the seventh with a solo home run to tie the game. Drey Dirksen added a two run shot later in the inning. Brendan Knoll picked up his sixth win in the season with a scoreless seventh inning. An even 2000 fans saw it at the Birdcage. A thanks to that one fan that decided at the last minute to attend the game.
Chicago 2 Winnipeg 1 (10 innings)
In the second 2-1 game decided in 10 innings tonight, the Dogs gain a game in the East as K.C. Hobson (another better name for ghost runner) scored the lead run on a Reggie Pruitt Jr. sacrifice fly. J.C. Keys shut the door on the Goldeyes in the 10th as they could not plate Terry Lee. Both starters were great as John Baker allowed a run in six innings, while Goldeyes starter James Bradwell went seven only allowing a run.
Kane County 6 Kansas City 4
The Monarchs finally got some runs across against Konnor Ash in the seventh inning with three of them scoring via wild pitches turning a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead. It was the Cougars however that got the last laugh as Todd Lott blasted a walk off grand slam to win the game, their third in a row versus the Monarchs. Lott went 3-5 with five of the six runs batted in for the Cougars, raising his average to .383.
Fargo-Moorhead 10 Lincoln 1
The RedHawks stay hot hitting double digits in runs in defeating the Saltdogs at Newman Outdoor Field. Michael Hallquist hit the exclamation point with a three run home run in the eighth inning, part of a 2-4, four RBI night. Lamar Sparks had three hits at the top of the order for the RedHawks. Shane Barringer tossed five innings of one run ball to get the win for the RedHawks.
Milwaukee 24 Cleburne 8
The Railroaders made some history tonight, but not in the way they wanted giving up a franchise record 24 runs as the Milkmen flexed their milk muscles all night long. Six different Milkmen had three hits. Surprisingly, the Milkmen his only two home runs. Parker Lester hit his first in a Milkmen uniform, a three run shot. Erik Ostberg would not be undone hitting a three run shot of his own, his 15th. Kyle Martin was a bright spot for the Railroaders driving in five runs including his own three run shot, his 19th.
