American Association Insider: July 13, 2025
Seven games on tap for a Sunday afternoon in the American Association. If you weren't at a ballpark, I hope you all enjoyed your Sunday, whatever you did.
Milwaukee 12 Kane County 3
The Milkmen building on the momentum of last night's walk off win defeated the Cougars at Franklin Field. The Milkmen put this one away with a five run third inning, highlighted by a three run home run by Scott Ota. It was a part of a three RBI day for Ota. Last night's hero Chase Estep went 4-6 and Delvin Perez went 4-5 to lead the Milkmen attack. Chase Gearing won his second start in a row with a six inning, one earned run effort.
Kansas City 5 Winnipeg 4
A Ross Adolph sacrifice fly in the sixth inning put the Monarchs ahead for good as they defeated the Goldeyes for the ninth time in ten games at Blue Cross Park. Jailyn Williams went 3-5 for the Goldeyes to lead a 11 hit attack. Andy Armstrong had three hits out of the nine hole for the Goldeyes. Daniel Martinez made it through five innings to pick up his fourth win of the season.
Chicago 10 Lincoln 5
Someone added Jalapenos because the Chicago Dogs are spicy hot picking up their sixth win in a row. Reggie Pruitt Jr. and Henry Kusiak each hit solo home runs, while Howard Rodriguez hit a grand slam. Kusiak drove in three runs for the day. Rolando Espinosa hit his 12th home run and drove in three of the Saltdogs four runs. Jack Nedrow won his first game in five starts in spite of a sparking 2.10 ERA throwing 6.2 innings of one run ball.
Sioux Falls 5 Fargo-Moorhead 4
In another tightly contested game between the I-29 rivals, the Canaries took the lead for the only time in the game courtesy of a two out Jordan Barth two run double. Dillon Thomas had three hits for the RedHawks. Maybe it was meant to be Sioux Falls day. Jeremy Dirksen was the five millionth fan through the gate and was honored. Dirksen? Sound familiar? Yes, he's the father of Canaries catcher Drey Dirksen. Story from Fargo Forum
Lake Country 4 Gary SouthShore 2
The DockHounds scored single runs in four different innings and it was enough to salvage the final game of the series with the RailCats. Hayden Dunhurst homered and drove in a pair of runs to lead the DockHounds. Kyle Lobstein won his second start of the week going six innings allowing a pair of earned runs. Elvis Peralta and L.G. Castillo both had three hits for the RailCats.
Sioux City 2 Cleburne 0 (7 innings)
It was all about pitching in game one. Austin Drury allowed four hits in a seven inning shutout. Mike Shawaryn was the hard luck loser only allowing two runs on three hits going the distance. It's the second time in his last three starts where Shawaryn has gone the distance only to be tagged with the loss. Shawaryn leads the league now with eight losses, but deserves better. A Kurtis Byrne sacrifice fly and a Torin Montgomery RBI single.
Sioux City 6 Cleburne 1 (7 innings)
A five run fourth inning highlighted by a Kurtis Byrne two run double was the difference as Jake Wetherbee earned win number eight going the distance to finish the road sweep of the Railroaders. Wetherbee's only blemish was a solo home run by Cooper Weiss but that was one of only three hits by the Railroaders.
