Six series began on Tuesday night.

Winnipeg 8 Fargo Moorhead 5

The Goldeyes celebrated Canada Day by knocking off their forever rivals at Blue Cross Park. Six runs in the first four innings did enough damage where the Goldeyes didn't have to look back, not that they had time to. The game clocked in at two hours and six minutes. Jacob Robson had three hits including two home runs, a two run and solo shots. Matthew Warkentin pitched in with three hits, and two runs batted in. Juan Fernandez, Jose Sermo and Hunter Clanin all homered for the RedHawks.

Sioux Falls 4 Lincoln 2

Tanner Brown allowed two runs in seven innings and the Canaries bats woke up in time to give him his fourth win at the Birdcage. Jordan Barth tied the game with a two run homer, part of a three hit night. Mike Hart's single in the sixth proved to be the difference. Scott Combs drove in an insurance run in the eighth. Christian Cosby picked up his fifth save, allowing only a walk.

Cleburne 2 Milwaukee 0

Derek Craft tossed a complete game three hit shutout to give the beleaguered Railroaders bullpen a night off and picked up his fourth win. Both teams combined for seven hits.

Lake Country 10 Chicago 5

Chicago wiped out a 4-1 with a four run fifth, but as we used to say in pickup games as kids, "we get our fair ups". And the DockHounds indeed did get their fair ups and scored five to pull away from the Dogs. The DockHounds attack was highlighted by a two home run night by Brian Rey, Daunte Stuart and Ray Zuberer III both had three hit nights. Give a nod though to the DockHounds bullpen who did not allow a hit in the last four innings.

Gary SouthShore 5 Kansas City 4

In what could be as big of a mid season bounce back as the Cleveland Indians in Major League, the RailCats once again beat the Kansas City Monarchs, now going 3-2 versus the West Division leading Monarchs. This time it was in front of the home crowd at U.S. Steel Yard. Andres Noriega drove in two with a double, and wore one Roger Dorn style in the eighth inning to tie the game. Ernny Ordonez drove in the lead run later in the inning. Micah Pries homered in the seven inning to give the Monarchs the lead at that time. Pries promises to be another good find for the Monarchs. Julian Garcia allowed three runs in seven innings, striking out 11 but picked up a no decision for the Monarchs.

Sioux City 9 Kane County 7

It was a back and forth game between the Cougars and Explorers, but Sioux City struck last in the bottom of the seventh to take game one of the series at Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park. Abdiel Layer highlighted the Explorers attack with a bases loaded double, his only hit of the night. Todd Lott went 3-4 and hit his third home run of the season and raised his average to .383. Claudio Finol seems to be heating up as he hit his second home run of the season and went 2-4. The Explorers once again flashed their speed swiping six bases. Felix Cepeda picked up his 12th save of the season.
