American Association Insider: June 5, 2025

There was five games tonight in the Association as the Monarchs and RedHawks could not get things going at Newman Outdoor Field after a lengthy rain delay.

Kane County 2 Winnipeg 1

A few holdovers from the American Association days were asking me last night at CHS Field how things were going with George Tsamis in Kane County. My answer was, they're still trying to find their stride offensively, but their pitching has once again been top notch. That was the case on Thursday as the Cougars rode a one run in 6.2 inning performance from Tommy Sommer to a 2-1 win versus the Goldeyes in front of 2674 at a smoky Blue Cross Park. Trendon Craig and Armond Upshaw's (bunt) RBI singles in the third inning provided all the offense the Cougars needed to win the rubber game of the series.

Lake Country 4 Gary SouthShore 3

Leadoff batter Daunte Stuart went 3-4 with a double and a run batted in, and Luke Hansel went five innings allowing two runs to get his third win as Lake Country defeated Gary SouthShore 4-3 in front of 1234 at Kamp Oconomowoc. Ray Zuberer III homered for the DockHounds while Jake Allgeyer connected on his first longball of the season for the RailCats.

Sioux Falls 15 Sioux City 4

It was an offensive explosion in the middle innings as the Canaries struck for six runs in the fifth and seven in the sixth to run away with it. Sioux City had a 3-1 lead after four innings. Josh Rehwaldt and Jordan Barth both had three run home runs in the sixth, both went 3-4 for the night with Rehwaldt driving in six runs. With the six runs driven in, Rehwaldt now has 25 RBI for the season. Barth drove in five runs. Mike Hart walked four times, one way from tying a league record. 893 sat through a dreary night at the Birdcage to see the offensive fireworks.

Lincoln 9 Milwaukee 0

Watch out for the Saltdogs. With the win at the Milk Cooler in front of 892, the Saltdogs won the last two games versus the Milkmen by a 12-1 combined score. Greg Loukinen got the win throwing seven shutout innings allowing only three hits and walking one batter. The Saltdogs had a thing for odd number innings, scoring at least two runs in each one except the ninth. Yusniel Diaz homered and drove in six runs for the night. Jack Dragum went 3-4 for the Saltdogs.

Cleburne 8 Chicago 6

The Railroaders jumped out to a 7-2 lead after five innings and held on to defeat the Dogs for the second consecutive night. Kyle Martin, Aaron Altherr and Dustin Peterson all homered for the Roaders. Peterson's was a part of a four RBI night. Martin's home run is his ninth of the season, putting him on pace to hit 36 bombs. That would put him ahead of the record held currently by Adam Brett Walker III in 2021. 1321 came out to LaModerna on seasonal 86 degree night.
