American Association Insider: June 22, 2025 recaps and Power Rankings
Six games on slate for Sunday, here's how they went down.
Sioux Falls 3 Fargo-Moorhead 0
The Canaries finished off a sweep of the RedHawks with a noon time victory at a hot Birdcage where only 357 fans decided to brave the heat. Both teams combined for a total of eight hits. Josh Rehwaldt had two of them, and one of them was the difference in the game as he connected for a three run home run for the only scoring of the game. Brendan Knoll must've have read my criticism of the Canaries rotation after the top two starters and went out and threw 5.2 scoreless innings dodging damage from six walks, earning his fourth win. Christian Cosby extended his scoreless inning streak to 17.2 innings picking up the save. It was the first sweep of the RedHawks in Sioux Falls since August 9-11, 2018.
Winnipeg 12 Sioux City 4
The middle innings were kind to the home team as the Goldeyes scored a total of nine runs in the 4-6th innings to take the series finale and the weekend set 2-1. Ray-Patrick Didder tripled in three runs and added a home run for a four RBI day. Torin Montgomery homered for the Explorers. Landen Bourassa got his fifth win of the season allowing four runs but lasting six innings.
Lake Country 9 Milwaukee 7
A dramatic three run home run in the eighth inning by former Milkmen Aaron Hill, his fourth of the season and first since June 6th gave the branded for the weekend Oconomowoc Athletics the win over their heated rivals from Franklin. Eury Perez in his third game for Lake Country went 4-4 with a home run and two batted in. Erik Ostberg, Delvin Perez, Jefry Marte and Willie Escala all homered for the Milkmen. Perez, Hill, Demitrius Sims and Daunte Stuart countered for the Lake Country. Eric Torres picked up save #9 and lowered his ERA to 0.52.
Lincoln 6 Kane County 5
The Saltdogs scored three in the first and fifth innings and made it stick in finishing off the sweep of the visiting Cougars. Oscar Santos homered and drove in three as a part of a 3-4 day for the Cougars. Drew DeVine went 2-4 with three runs batted in while Max Hewitt drove in two with a double in the fifth inning that proved to be the difference in the game. With the win, the Saltdogs are now within three games of .500 and are within a game of the final playoff spot in the West, currently being held by the reeling RedHawks.
Chicago 5 Gary SouthShore 1
The red hot Dogs finished off a home sweep of the RailCats with a 5-1 win at Impact Field, their ninth win in the last ten games. Henry Kusiak led a 12 hit Dogs offensive attack with a 4-5 game with a double and a RBI. The Dogs now have five regulars batting .290 or better. John Baker picked up his fifth win throwing six shutout innings. RailCat Jairus Richards pursuit of stolen base immortality has slowed up with only three swipes in the last 10 games while battling a 3-27 slump at the plate
Kansas City 3 Cleburne 2
Same script for the Monarchs lately, have a player contract transferred, go win a game. Pitcher Daniel Martinez had his contract transferred to the Reds, joining teammate Peyton Holt. The Monarchs had a 2-0 lead evaporate in the seventh on an Aaron Altherr solo home run and an Andres Sosa sacrifice fly. But the Monarchs persevered and scored a run in the ninth as Josh Bissonette singled and later scored on a Jaylyn Williams sacrifice fly after the Railroaders thought they had an inning ending double play but a grounder to third was ruled foul.
