Kansas City 5 Fargo-Moorhead 4
The RedHawks took a 4-0 lead over four innings, but it was all Kansas City from there as the Monarchs take game two of the series. A Robbie Glendinning two run double was followed by a game tying single by Jailyn Williams. The deciding run came from the long ball from who else but Isiah Gilliam in the 7th inning, his 10th of the season. Juan Fernandez and Robert Perez Jr. both had home runs for the RedHawks. 4614 on Kid's Day at Legends Field saw the game.
Winnipeg 11 Chicago 2
For the second straight night at Impact Field, the Goldeyes put on an offensive show in defeating the Dogs. Max Murphy homered twice, Matthew Warkentin homered for the second game in a row and Andy Armstrong hit his first. Landen Bourassa gave the Goldeyes seven innings of two run ball to pick up his third win of the season. 3197 on hand at Impact Field.
Cleburne 15 Kane County 9
You had to feel good if you were a Cougars fan, up 8-1 after five innings. But the Railroaders reminded us they can score runs in bunches scoring six in the sixth, and seven more in the eighth inning for a statement like victory at Northwestern Medicine Field in front of 4402 stunned fans. Cooper Weiss in the sixth and Jose Sermo in the eighth both hit grand slam home runs. Weiss knocked in six runs for the night. Kyle Martin hit his 11th home run.
Sioux Falls 10 Gary SouthShore 2
The Canaries scored runs in six of their nine innings at bat on route to a convincing victory over the RailCats, evening up their record at 15-15. Josh Rehwaldt homered twice, driving in four runs on a 3-5 night at the plate. Brendan Knoll got the win going seven innings allowing two runs. Ryan Zimmerman was activated and pitched a scoreless ninth inning to render my Sunday Insider from two Sundays ago obsolete. Though I did preface the story by saying he could come back to pitch. 1903 saw the Railcats drop to 8-21 with the loss.
Lake Country 1 Sioux City 0
The song says one is the loneliest number but at Mercy Field in front of 678 on Tuesday night, it was the luckiest number as a single run in the fifth stood as the DockHounds escaped a bases loaded jam in the ninth to defeat the Explorers. Luke Hansel pitched into the seventh inning to pick up his fourth win. Peniel Otono allowed the one run in five innings to pick up the hard luck loss. Brian Rey went 2-4 and drove in the only run.
Lincoln 9 Milwaukee 4
It was a five run seventh that erased a 3-2 deficit and gave the Saltdogs the win in front of 2629 at Haymarket Park. It was Rolando Espinosa that did the damage to the Milkmen going 3-4 with a double, two home runs and five runs batted in.
