American Association Insider May 31, 2025

This is going to be a bare bones recap kind of night. I went to a Northwoods League game in Mankato tonight. The weather was too nice to stay home and sit inside watching AA Baseball TV. Maybe I should have however as I ended up sitting through a three and a half hour marathon of not so well played baseball. Please powers that be in the American Association and get the deal done to get an expansion team in Blaine. I don't know how much longer I can take not having American Association Baseball in Minnesota.

Gary SouthShore 3 Chicago 2

A single by Jose Contreras in the last of the ninth won the game for the RailCats, ending the Dogs five game winning streak. A strong start by the Dog's Brady Miller went unrewarded as he went seven innings allowing only two first inning runs on a two run Joe Suozzi home run. 2744 saw the home team won at a chilly US Steel Yard.

Winnipeg 7 Lake Country 2

A Max Murphy grand slam was the difference as the Goldeyes utilized a five run fifth inning to defeat Lake Country on the road. Newly acquired Zan Rose went six innings allowing only one DockHound run. 2177 saw it at Kamp Oconomowoc.

Fargo Moorhead 6 Milwaukee 4

Fargo Moorhead scored two runs in the sixth inning to break a four all deadlock to defeat the Milkmen 6-4 in front of 1257 at the Milk Cooler in Franklin. Seriously, there is never a day that ballpark is warm, is there? Alex DuBord is now in double digits with 10 saves for the season as he continues his assault on single season and all time American Association saves records.

Cleburne 7 Sioux City 2

On Ag Night at Lewis and Clark Park, it was the Railroaders that harvested five runs in the eighth inning to break a 2-2 deadlock. The big blow in the inning was a two run single from Steven Rivas. Derek Craft picked up the win allowing a run in seven innings. Kyle Marman threw real well also going seven innings allowing three runs, one earned in the hard luck loss. 1489 saw it on a Siouxland Saturday night.

Lincoln 5 Kane County 3

The Saltdogs put up three runs in the first inning and were determined to ride it to a win. Johnny Blake and two relievers held down the Cougars until the ninth. Robby Martin Jr. homered in the ninth to get the Cougars on the board and Oscar Santos singled to tie the game. After the Cougars could not get a runner in from third with no outs in the 10th, the Saltdogs put up two runs in the 11th and held off a Cougars threat in the bottom of the inning to end the game. An excellent crowd of 8191 saw it at Northwestern Medicine Field.

Kansas City 5 Sioux Falls 3

With the Canaries up 2-1, the Monarchs parlayed back to back two run singles by Ross Adolph and Alvaro Gonzalez to a four run fourth inning and didn't look back defeating the Canaries in front of an announced crowd of 2944 at Legends Field. Daniel Martinez won his first game allowing a pair of earned runs in six innings and Tyler McKay picked up his fourth save throwing a scoreless ninth.
