American Association Insider- May 15, 2025

It was a four game slate for the American Association on getaway day as Kane County and Fargo Moorhead had the night off and the first rainout occurred as Milwaukee vs. Lake Country got washed out.

Sioux Falls 10 Lincoln 2

The Canaries bounced back at home in a rainy matinee day on Thursday. They jumped on Lincoln for three runs in the first inning and never looked back. Jabari Henry hit a solo home run to get within four of the all time home run record and Hunter Clanin had a two run shot to give the Canaries their first inning runs. Calvin Estrada drove in two runs in the fifth and back to back two run doubles by Jordan Barth  and Scott Combs tacked on four more runs in the sixth. It was more than enough as Tanner Brown allowed only a run on two hits in six innings. 1959 braved the raindrops at the Birdcage.

Gary SouthShore 4 Cleburne 3.

The RailCats finally found the win column a one run victory over the Railroaders. Joe Suozzi's two run single gave the RailCats a 2-0 lead. An Elvis Peralta single the next inning added an insurance run as Gary SouthShore never trailed. If Peralta homers, will Andrew Mild say, "Elvis has left the building"? Deyni Olivero got the win with a quality start, two runs in six innings.

Winnipeg 10 Kansas City 3

Dreams of a 100-0 season have been dashed for the Monarchs as they drop the final game of their six game home stand to the Goldeyes in front of 1028 at Legends Field. It was a balanced attack for the Goldeyes as they scored in six of the nine innings. Eight of the ten runs came from home runs as the Goldeyes homered seven times led by two by Evan Alexander. Mitchell Lambson was the recipient of the run support as the veteran lefty allowed three runs in six innings to get the win.

Sioux City 9 Chicago 6

In what became the "West Coast" game of the night due to a lengthy rain delay that saw the Chicago TV production booth struck by lightning, the Explorers took home the win. The game ended up only being able via audio. Thankfully everyone was all right. After the Dogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, the Explorers struck back with six unanswered runs in the middle frames. A Brantley Bell two run home run in the sixth and another Dogs run in the seventh made it a one run game before a DShawn Knowles triple scored a pair for the X's in the eighth. Knowles would later score to make it a 9-5 game. The Dogs made it interesting in the ninth, scoring a run and loading the bases but could not knot the game.

Notes:

It's going to be a tough Friday for both the Dogs and the Explorers as both teams will likely not get on the road till around 1 am. The Dogs having to head to Sioux Falls while the Explorers host Kansas City Friday night.

It was a busy day on the transaction wire. Eston Stull who I though was going to have a Charlie Hasty like impact for the the Canaries bullpen was signed by the Minnesota Twins. The Twins also signed Monarchs reliever Josh Bortka. Lake Country reliever Logan Berrier was signed by the Detroit Tigers, but the DockHounds welcome back slugger Ryan Hernandez. Former MLB All Star Jair Jurrjens Lincoln Saltdog career ends after just one not so good start.
