American Association Insider- May 13, 2025

Tuesday featured a couple of matinee tilts in Milwaukee and Chicago. Home openers for Gary SouthShore and Sioux Falls. Kansas City and Winnipeg continued their opening homestands.

Sioux City 10 Chicago 2

After being hard pressed to score runs in their first four games, the Explorers busted out scoring 10 runs in the first three innings to put away the Dogs early on Tuesday morning with 5236 observers, most of which were school children taking in the game. The Explorers teaching the kids how to count to ten. Seven of the nine Explorers starters had hits and Joey Murray earned the win allowing a run in five innings of work.

Lake Country 3 Milwaukee 1

Lake Country wins the first game of the rivalry with the Milkmen for the 2025 season (do we have a series trophy for this yet?). Down 1-0 after five, the Hounds rally for three in the next two innings and hold the lead the rest of the way. Demetrius Sims delivered the big blow with a two run home run in the sixth sending many of the 3506 at Franklin Field home unhappy. Luke Hansel earned the victory allowing one run and striking out eight in six innings.

Kansas City 5 Winnipeg 4

The Monarchs are now the only undefeated team in the American Association as they take down the Goldeyes on Tuesday night. The Goldeyes ralled from a 2-0 deficit in the first inning. Robbie Glendinning and Josh Bissonette homered with Glendinning's two run shot putting the Monarchs ahead for good. Patrick Pigden picked up the victory allowing the two runs in five innings of work.

Sioux Falls 6 Lincoln 3

Three runs in the eighth inning proved to be the difference as Sioux Falls won their home opener, keeping the Saltdogs winless for the season in the process. Calvin Estrada hit a two run bomb for the Canaries in the eighth inning, and the Canaries bullpen pitched four scoreless inning in the victory.

Fargo Moorhead 4 Kane County 0

The slow start for the defending Wolff Cup champions continues as they fall to defeat to the RedHawks on Tuesday night. It was a great pitcher's duel as Konnor Ash only allowed a run in six innings for the Cougars while Kolby Kiser threw five shutout innings for the RedHawks. Robert Perez Jr. drove in all four runs for the RedHawks with a sac fly and then a bases clearing double to put the game away.

Cleburne 8 Gary SouthShore 5

After a wild couple of innings that saw the teams knotted up at five runs a piece after two innings, the game settled in with no more scoring until a three spot by the Railroaders in the ninth inning proved to be the difference. A Lamar Sparks solo home run followed by a two run Kyle Martin shot sent the crowd of 2295 home unhappy and left the RailCats still searching for their first win of the season.

Stat of the night: Six days of league play in the middle of May and we've not had so much as a rain delay.
