American Association Insider- Friday May 9th recaps
Because I can't let go of hockey season, there I was on a 80 plus degree night in Austin, Minnesota watching my 64th live hockey game in the 2024-25 season. That being said, I didn't focus much on the games around the league tonight. So here you go.
Sioux City 4 Kane County 3 (10 innings)
The Explorers put up three runs in the fourth. It was good enough until the ninth when Kane County scored their first runs of the season after 17 scoreless innings to tie the game. However after the X's pushed their runner home from 2nd base in the 10th, the Cougars loaded the sacks with nobody out but could not score that elusive tying run. It's a big win for the X's as they guaranteed a series win over the defending Miles Wolff Cup champs.
Lake Country 5 Chicago 4
The DockHounds scored a pair of runs in the ninth inning to ruin the Dogs Home Opener in front of 6714 fans in Rosemont, Illinois. The Dogs found out the hard way what life after Jesus Marciano may be like. It was strange seeing Luke Roskam in a DockHounds jersey. Jacob Teter went 1-5 from the lead off spot for the Dogs.
Fargo Moorhead 2 Sioux Falls 0
Single runs in the sixth and seventh inning proved to be all the run support the RedHawks needed as Kyle Crigger and five relievers kept the potent Canaries at bay to win their Home Opener in front of 3533 at Newman Outdoor Field.
Kansas City 8 Lincoln 1
Noticed I didn't put that as Kansas City/Lawrence. It's time to move on from last year. The Monarchs did exactly that with home runs from Isiah Gilliam, Robbie Glendenning, and Peyton Holt leading the way in an 8 run attack against the Saltdogs in front of 4475 at Legends Field and their new field turf.
Winnipeg 6 Cleburne 4
Much like their NHL counterparts, the Goldeyes bounced back from a loss to a Texas team defeating Cleburne on Friday night in front of 2013 at the Pasta Bowl. The Goldeyes did their damage with four runs in the sixth and two in the seventh. Kyle Martin homered against his former club giving a taste to what to expect from the slugging left handed first baseman.
Milwaukee 5 Gary SouthShore 4
Pointstreak gave me nothing to work with on this one. Congrats to Bo Vine on his boys winning the Home Opener. I hope the fireworks weren't too loud for the Franklin dwellers.
My wife's annual 30th birthday is tomorrow, so recaps will once again be rather brief.
